Never a dull moment with this book. It was filled with so many twists and turns and oh so enjoyable. At first I was a little bit disappointed because I thought the characters from the first two books were going to show up in this one. I was sad that they didn't. However.....I was hooked from the beginning so I continued to read until I just finished the book. It was filled with mysterious happenings, lies that ruined so many lives yet in the end turned out better than I could have imagined.
My biggest problem is that I hate stories to end! I know they must but, I get so engrossed in them that when they end it saddens me. You did a marvelous job on these books Shirlee! Thank you so much.

One of her better books Read it when it came out years ago and still like it. I don't care far the new cover, it doesn't suit the story and author. But that's OK as I have kindle!
good book
This story was wonderful as all her another books, I love this author she really knows how to write great stories you won't be disappointed with this book. I hope to buy more her books.yes I highly recommend this book.
Only two things I wish to address, hence the 4 star rating vs. the 5. Certain spots were predictable and I love to be surprised. Secondly, an Epilogue would have been great to see a few years later how everything worked out. So much was divulged near the end, it would be nice to know how it all turned out in time. I guess what I'm talking about is closure. All I all, a fun read!
Hugh and Macaela enemies from the start but with sexual feelings for each other, played right I to the hands of the matchmakers. The only problem, Hugh was the wrong man.
I love Shirlee Busbee, she is one of my most favorite authors but this book is definitely not her best. It is not a bad story, no, just not her best. Plot is typical hero & heroine are trapped into marriage because they get caught in the rain & stay together unchaperoned for a long time. There is also the "Big Misunderstanding". Just felt a bit like copy/paste of countless other stories.
Creole and Americans in a business together. Hugh Lancaster, American, age 30 and Micaela a Creole, age 20 and the sparks do fly. New Orleans will never be boring. I lived there years ago and love the history, food and Creole music.
